HBO Max has confirmed that The Chair Company will return for a second season. The offbeat workplace comedy quickly found an audience thanks to its strange humor, sharp writing and memorable lead performance.

Co-created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, the show follows Ron, a dad who experiences an embarrassing moment at work that spirals into a full blown personal crisis. Ron becomes convinced that his slipup is part of a wider scheme and sets out to uncover what he believes is a hidden plot. The result is a mix of surreal comedy, paranoia and deadpan reactions that feel completely unique to Robinson’s style.

The first season premiered in October and quickly built a following. Viewers responded to the show’s strange energy and unpredictable humor. The renewal signals that HBO Max sees strong potential in the series and wants to give the creative team room to push things even further.

What to expect in season two

Official details are still under wraps, but fans can expect more off-kilter storytelling and the same kind of character-driven absurdity that made the first season stand out. With the renewal secure, Robinson and Kanin now have the chance to expand the world and deepen the mysteries behind Ron’s growing suspicions.
