Experts are already calling it the most important archaeological find since 1922, when Howard Carter discovered the famous tomb of Tutankhamun.
Although Thutmose II’s mummy was not found inside the tomb, archaeologists uncovered artifacts inscribed with his name, confirming the tomb's owner. Interestingly, the burial chamber appears to have been flooded at some point. Because of this, the team believes that many of the original contents, including the pharaoh's mummy, may have been moved to a second, nearby tomb that has not yet been discovered.
The director of the excavation called this possibility "astonishing" and believes there is a strong chance that a second, untouched tomb belonging to Thutmose II could still be hidden nearby.
The search now continues, with the world watching closely. If the second tomb is found, it could reveal even more about this powerful yet mysterious figure from ancient Egypt.
Stay tuned. This story is far from over.
